Growing up I had the pleasure of seeing and learning from my father Tom and his two brothers as they built and ran the Carey Group. This learning curve was taken to the next level when in 1990 I joined the business as a site engineer. I enjoyed progressing through contract management roles delivering many of the business’ civil engineering contracts.

Where I feel I am able to contribute significantly to the focused growth and expansion within key markets, is through the relationships and resulting repeat business we have from numerous clients – some of which we have proudly worked with for over 40 years. We get repeat work and recommendations by going to work and completing things in the right way every day – just like my father and uncles did.

As Group Chief Operating Officer, I lead our Operational Excellence strategic goal and support our Safe Home Every Day culture being embedded across all our sites. In addition, I champion the development of our apprentices, our engineers, surveyors and supervisors and seeing how our early talent is growing and giving people the opportunity to shine and thrive is incredibly fulfilling.

I’m very proud to be part of this leadership team as a second generation family member and to build on the success of our first 50 years, everybody who works with Careys must feel valued and know how they contribute to our continued success for the next 50 years and beyond. Everyone should get an opportunity to progress and achieve their best and above all enjoy working for Careys.

My wife and I live in London with our three children (our eldest son now also works at Careys) and enjoy eating out, walking and watching football (I’m not admitting to who I support…).
